Memento Mori Musings on the First Day of Yeshiva (Koheles 7:1-2)
(א) טוֹב שֵׁם מִשֶּׁמֶן טוֹב וְיוֹם הַמָּוֶת מִיּוֹם הִוָּלְדוֹ.
(ב) טוֹב לָלֶכֶת אֶל בֵּית אֵבֶל מִלֶּכֶת אֶל בֵּית מִשְׁתֶּה בַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא סוֹף כׇּל הָאָדָם וְהַחַי יִתֵּן אֶל לִבּוֹ.
This morning (9/6/22) we kicked off our inaugural Mishlei shiur of year with Koheles. I shared some musings inspired by a recent levaya I attended in yeshiva (of Rivka Nachmias z"l) in conjunction with the start of the 2022-2023 year of yeshiva. We didn't engage in our usual level of in-depth analysis, but I hope that those who attended (and those who listen/watch) find that this provides a helpful perspective for their upcoming yeshiva year.
